The Role

To work within the Food Service Department, responsible for the smooth running of their station as laid down in the Standard of Performance Manual. To ensure the guest is served to the highest possible standard. Ensuring a consistent standard of service is achieved throughout. 

Responsible to the General Manager.

Key Communicators: Duty Manager, Kitchen, Reception, Events, Sales and Marketing.

Main Duties

• Preparation of the restaurant for the service of food.

- Table lay-up.

- Stock and replenish service stations, linen, food items

- Mis-en-place

- General hygiene and cleanliness.

• Service of food in accordance with the required standard.

• Clearing used crockery, cutlery, glasses etc., as required during service.

• Ensuring an optimum guest satisfaction level is achieved.

• Maintain a tidy working environment at all times.

• To reset tables, tidy work areas and prepare the food service areas for the next service.

• To comply at all times with the required standard operating procedures.

• Prompt set up, presentation and service of trays for food service in the Bar, and for Room Service Orders.

• Service of Wine and Beverages properly and correctly in accordance with the standards set in the Wine and Beverage Service Manual.

• Complete general cashiering duties, bill presentation and settlement.

• To satisfy reasonable requests of all guests and management ensuring standards and service procedures are fully maintained.

• To handle complaints in a professional manner and report any such complaints to the Duty Manager.

•To follow specific training programmes, which will help in personal and professional development - designed to improve performance, efficiently and experience.

• To report any maintenance defects to the Duty Manager immediately.

General Duties

•To attend any meetings or training sessions/courses as required by Management

• To assist fellow employees to perform similar or related jobs as and when necessary

• To ensure guest satisfaction by performing such duties as attending to their requests and enquiries courteously and efficiently and accepting changes or additions in work hours which are necessary for the maintenance of uninterrupted service to Hotel Guests and Patrons

• To clean and maintain the work area, materials and equivalent, to report defective materials and equipment to superior

• To arrive at work in full uniform and presented in a professional manner.

• To be fully conversant with:

-Hotel Fire, Bomb and Emergency Procedures

-Hotel and Company Security Procedures

-Hotel Health & Safety Policy and Procedures

-Hotel Facilities and Attractions

-Hotel Standards of Operation and Departmental Procedures

-Current Licensing Procedures

-Methods of Payment accepted by the Company

-Short and Long-term Marketing Promotions

• To continuously endeavour to improve the knowledge of the job

• To undertake any reasonable request made by Management

• To be flexible in your role and the hours you work

• To continuously build and maintain relationships with colleagues in every department

• To promote and sell the hotel products & services and have full knowledge of them
